When I originally got my Police Style Mag Lite Rechargeable in the 90's, it was an extremely bright light, when compared to all the other lights I had, including the 2 and 3 cell standard Mag Lites. The main disadvantage was that the batteries discharged within an hour or so. It also generated a LOT of heat, so much so that if left on face down on a table, it would leave a burn or melt mark and they were actually disallowed from flying in checked baggage with the batteries installed.

This LED UPGRADE ( it really is an upgrade, not just a replacement ) makes a world of difference. Battery life is extended to truly usable amounts and this thing is BRIGHT !!! Even though it cannot be focused, the beam is broad enough to cover a usable area and is quite even and round in shape. I have the older Mag Lite so I use the 3 position brightness selector on the lamp housing. Bright will light up a field comparable to that of a car headlight. Medium and low are useful for close in work and extend the battery life even further.

Simply Amazing... and well worth the price to get a usable, very bright light.
