Polar FT1 transparent blue Review

It's not fancy and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it does do what it's supposed to do and that is be an accurate heart rate monitor. The numbers are easy to read and programming is pretty simple. If not for a few minor issues I would have given it 5 stars. First, it would have been better if it had separate buttons instead of the one button does all. It's not that bad, but does take some getting used to. Secondly, there has been a couple times where for some reason while in the heart monitor mode it reset itself to time mode. No big deal just mash the button to get back to heart monitor. More of an annoyance that a real problem. Third, the band is el cheapo and when it breaks I guess you can chunk it. It doesn't look like the band is replaceable. Fourth, your skin has to be moist before the chest strap will work. I spray myself with a misting bottle before putting the chest strap on and it works every time.

I can honestly say I haven't seen such cheap insoles since I was a kid wearing kids shoes in the 1980's. They are literally just a thin piece of un-molded foam that provide no cushioning and contributed to a blister on the bottom of my foot where I have never gotten a blister before in my life. Other than the crappy insole, I think the shoe itself is pretty nice. Will be going to get a dr. scholl's or something. Oh...and if you are looking for wide, the 4E really isn't that wide. I've had very comfortable New Balance sneakers before, but these don't really live up to that standard. They are inexpensive though.

For some reason, Polar requires that these units be sent back to replace the battery, which costs $25 + shipping. On top of the annual cost of maintenance, this ship to replace policy leaves you without a heart monitor for about 2 weeks once a year.

The other issue I found is that the reception range is not very good, so the unit won't work well mounted on a bicycle.

Finally, Polar has decided to arbitrarily remove the % fat burn function from some of its watches. This watch does not have it, so keep in mind you will not know what % of your calorie burn was fat.

Well, it has been a little over a year since I have been using this bench. I started out using 5-pound dumbbells with it at least 5 days a week. Alright, I decided to do one last update for this review. What's the reason? Honestly, I still feel like you could not find a better bench to start weightlifting with for the price and quality, and I want to give you my take on what negative reviewers are saying. Here are some of the charges against the bench: a weird chemical smell, missing parts, rusted parts, wobbliness. First of all, let me tell you that any product that is shipped from a warehouse is likely to have a different smell. Ever been to the outdoors department at a retailer? Then you know what I'm talking about. The equipment will smell different at first, but that scent will eventually dissipate altogether. So, you don't have to worry that the bench is somehow lethally toxic. But when I received my bench, were there any rusted or missing parts? No. Everything was there as expected. As for wobbliness, I tend to think that this issue really depends on the skill of the person assembling the bench. You do a poor job, you get a poor result. Makes sense, right? C'mon people, let's be rational. I encourage you to read what other positive reviewers are saying about this bench if you still have any doubts.

Radio Flyer Girls Classic Dual Deck Tricycle, Pink Review

This is the first night my daughter got her trike. It really is well made, and pieced together easily. You can see in the video...I had a very hard time capping the neck bolt, you can see the cover is not flush, because the neck bolt assembly seems bigger than the cap. I recommend a vice grip to assemble the neck, I didn't try it but I don't think a ratchet would fit. It must be very tight or else the wheel will go out of alignment and I had to turn the bolt as tight as I could to make sure. The bell is also very hard to push, you can see that she can still make it ring by touching it. I put her whole hand on the bell switch and she still couldn't do it. She likes the sounds and she will eventually be able to press it. The trike has been great. She ate breakfast on it the next day.

Another reason I posted this video is because I had a hard time finding the right bike for her height, and was worried she would not reach the pedals. I couldn't find any information on what height might fit this trike. My daughter is exactly 35 inches here, and 2 years old. With the seat on the lowest position, she can push the pedal forward, but not all the way around so she is still a few inches shy but I expected this. She will be able to push it shortly and I pleased at how well built it is and wifey loves it because it is cute. In the meanwhile, I tied a rope around the neck and tugged her around and she loved it.

Pearl Izumi Men's Elite Barrier Jacket, Silt/Lime, XX-Large Review

I wanted a lightweight rain jacket for summer rain, i.e., rain when the temperature was above 55 degrees F. The best rain jacket, in my opinion, is the Showers Pass eVent Elite 2.0 Jacket, but that works best for cool to cold rain. The Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Jacket is a close second! It is highly breathable and highly water resistant jacket for warm weather inclement weather. I just got it today at the post office (where it was delivered); I put it on for the light rain (~60 deg F) that was falling. Then, on our way back, we got hit with heavy rain. We were biking in it for ~15 min before we found shelter. Once we found shelter, I felt my shirt under the jacket, and it was completely dry! Amazing! Impressive!

Oh, I'm 5' 6" tall, 38" chest, a typical mesomorph, not one of those skinny-type bike riders. I wear a medium to large in normal shirts (depending on which brand), but I chose XL for this jacket because I'm familiar with the Pearl Izumi sizing. The XL fits me nicely.

And, I got the Screaming Yellow, which is also Screaming Yellow on the back. (One of the reviewers said the back was black, but he failed to say what the front color was.) Amazon doesn't show the back.

Finally, it is light enough that it is not hot in 60 deg F rain, nor is it hot once the rain stops falling and it is just cloudy.

(Single) Solid Cast Iron Kettbell (65 LB) Review

This is one of 3 kettlebells that I own and I highly recommend it because...

#1 HANDLE WIDTH: everyone wants to know the width of the handle, many of the Kettlebells I have used require me to keep my pinkies out of the handle because they simply will not fit, with this handle I do not have that problem, thus I am able to use all of my fingers which is extremely helpful when doing two handed movements like the KB Swing.

#2 HANDLE TEXTURE: many people have said their KB was cutting them up or something... well either the company is getting better at making them or I was a fluke because my KB is perfect, it in no way hurts my hands. I read the reviews thus I expected some kind of imperfection that I'd have to fill in with silly putty, but to my surprise the handle is quite comfortable and I can leave the silly putty for the children.

#3 THE WEIGHT: speaking of the weight, my scale says 50.1 but hey... I am no sissy, so I say "bring it on you extra tenth of a pound!" but seriously the 50 Pound weight works well for my cleans, all my swings and ground to overhead movements, it's also perfect for turkish get-ups, one legged dead-lifts and a few others.

#4 THE PRICE: this is a great KB for the very best price I have found anywhere. I cannot speak more highly of this KB, regardless of the great deal I got, but when you factor that in... it gets a hell of a lot better! It's a great value and a great KB

#5 THE SMELL: yes what others have said is true, it does smell... it smells brand new!! I don't mind that, nor do I think that it is a problem at all for new stuff to smell new.

#6 FINALLY, THE RENEGADE ROW QUESTION: is the bottom level? My answer, "It's Level Enough!" (if you are having trouble doing renegade rows on kettlebells, here's an idea... use hexagonal dumbbells you dumbbell!)

NOW I HAVE A RENEGADE ROW QUESTION FOR YOU: Isn't the whole purpose, for those of you using 2 kettlebells (OF THE SAME WEIGHT) for renegade rows, to make it more challenging both in the depth of the push up and the constant use of your stabilizer muscles?

But seriously the bottom of my bell actually sits perfectly level on the mats and the carpet at the gym; THUS if (for some reason) I bought a second 50 pound KB, then the surfaces I would do renegade rows on would be perfectly stable, BUT BUT BUT to appease those weirdos who keep bashing this bell I will, in the interest of full disclosure, say that when I put the bell on something that is unforgiving like a CEMENT driveway, it would actually wobble slightly, but nothing my manly muscles couldn't handle. (but then again... who does renegade rows on the cement?!)
