Product Description
Sawyer’s 2-liter dual bag portable purification system physically removes viruses from water. This system allows you to quickly purify 2 liters of water in as little as 1.5 minutes while performing other activities such as setting up the tent or preparing camp food. Use this system for one person or a group of people. The convenient bag to bag gravity system doesn’t require any pumping. Simply fill up the grey reservoir with unfiltered water, attach the filter and tube to the clean blue reservoir and gravity does the rest. After the blue reservoir is full hang by its handle to fill water bottles, containers, and pots and pans from the high flow .5 liters per minute dispensing cap. Bladders are 20-inches x 10-inches each. Included in the system is a drink tube for attaching to the bite valve of your choice (sold separately) so that you can use the reservoir as you would any hydration system. Perfect for your next hunting trip, wilderness camp, or adventure travel expedition where you can't carry enough potable water, and water sources are unsafe to drink.Sawyer Complete 2-Liter Dual Bag Water Treatment System Review
I bought 2 sawyer water filters. The first one was the kit for backpacking. The second was the emergency 5 gallon bucket kit. The more expensive backpacking kit worked great for the first season. Used it 4 trips with no issues. The following summer I took it out expecting the same performance but much to my surprise we got no water to pass through the filter. To be clear, I followed all of the instructions. I would backflush the filter when we returned from each trip and never let the filter freeze.Since we planned a 2 night trip we decided to cut it short to one night because we didn't want to have to boil all our water for the next 3 days. I tell you drinking hot water on a hot day really isn't refreshing when you are thirsty.
I have not used the emergency filter yet. It looks the same as the backpacking filter other than different fittings on the end of the filter. I will/can not trust sawyer to be my only filter source. It now has 2 other backups, one chemical and the other a pump filter. Before my failure I felt a gallon of bleach was good back-up, now I realize how important it is to be able to have clean drinking water and sawyer is not reliable in my opinion.
I emailed sawyer when we returned from our trip after the failure and all sawyer would tell me was to soak it in vinegar to clean out possible calcium deposits. This did not work and from then on they would not respond to me after sending at least 5 more emails.
When it works it works great, but if it fails you could lose up to $125.00 as I did. Just want others to be aware is all. I understand products fail, but customer service should never fail.
