Sanuk Men's Chiba Sidewalk SurferTan10 M US Review

These are the ultimate slip-on alternative to flip flops, and they are more comfortable for walking longer distances (as compared to flip-flops). They are durable, extra-light, breathable, and feel very good to walk in. I wear mine comfortably without socks, and the sandlals have an anti-odor fabric which doesn't allow bacteria, or fungus to form/grow. I wore mine for a full week in Florida with hot temps and they were perfect for casual walking, and beach recreation. As for use; I walked up to a few miles at a time in them (up and down the beach), and noticed they fit snug in all the right places and around my ankles - they do not cause blisters at all. However, they fit such that your feet/toes can move around a-little inside them and which makes them breathable; and the fabric is also breathable so you feel air circulation as you walk, or sit. The soles are also flexible so they really move with your natural walking motion - they are really suprisingly comfortable to wear, and walk in. My feet are size 11, and these sandals fit as advertised - perfectly. They are a true 11. As for styling, the picture herein really doesn't do them that much justice.. They look cooler than you think; and most people don't wear them.. Mine are a worn grey finish and have some frays (which make them appear broken in). Which there is no need to break them in; they already are..

Overall, these are best served for those who want a great casual/lazy sandal who might walk further distances than desired in flip flops.. or for something different than flops. They would be great for casual boating, beach, walking, barbeque, etc.. If you're like me, and don't like wearing running shoes, or deck-style shoes during casual outings, or during vacations, if so, these are for you too. The only down-side is that they are expensive - $65. However, I feel they are worth it for the comfort, materials, and are well made. I like mine so much, I'm going to get another pair of slip-ons in a different color.. You should also note that there are cheaper versions of Sanuk sandals than these. If you like to wear flip flops try these out and you'll really appreciate and like them.

5.11 #72157 Cotton Tactical Long Sleeve Shirt (OD Green, 3X-Large) Review

I was introduced to these shirts about three years ago by a friend. His rave comments got me to buy one at $55, and I've never regretted it. That original one finally wore out, but since then I've purchased five more and each has been as good or better than the first. The vented back provides great cooling in summer, especially if life and the boss like to make you wear long sleeves. On off time I wear the denims, which thus far have proven the most durable of the bunch.

With this shirt I can carry cellphone, iPod, pager and wallet of papers without appearing bulky or stabbing my wife and kids when giving or getting hug. With shopping around, you can now get these at much better prices than I initially paid (eg, here at Amazon), and can often come up with some of the rarer sizes like LT (my favorite for long sleeve) and XLT. Be aware they cut the waist and gut pretty generous, so if you're at all in shape the 'tall' versions may be what you want. For the record, I'm 6'0"/200 lbs, and the LT long sleeve is perfect for me.

Since being introduced to these, I've turned on about a half-dozen equally sturdy guys onto them. When we get together, we look like a platoon or a bowling team, but hey - we're all comfortable. And well-stocked. Recommended.

Product Description

If you already own a Delica or Endura, you have one of the best selling knives Spyderco makes. The knife you have just acquired is a bit different from the normal C10 Endura4 and C11 Delica4 Lightweights. They are now available in a range of new handle colors with full-flat ground blades. Their FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles come in new vibrant tones including blue, green, brown, gray and purple. Molded onto the handle's surface is Bi-Directional Texturing® for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity. The blades are full flat-ground VG-10 with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade’s spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left-or right-handed clip.

Spyderco Delica4 Lightweight FRN Flat Ground PlainEdge Knife (Green) Review

This review is for the Gray Spyderco Delica Full Flat Grind (FFG) Plain Edge knife with VG-10 steel.

The Blade
The blade is in the shape known as a "leaf blade". The leaf blade is more or less a modified straight edge knife. The blade is similar to a straight edge with a slight curve in it. This gives the knife the ability to slice similarly to a straight edge and a drop point. The blade is tapered on the sides, beginning about a quarter inch after the jimping ends. The thumb hole, also known as a "Spyder Hole" allows the knife to be opened easily, more easily than a thumb stud. The thumb hole does not sacrifice any strength, lightens the knife slightly, and can be easily opened with gloves. The edge is well ground, right at about 30� inclusive, which is right where spyderco sharpens most (possibly all) of their beveled knives. The blade also has a nice shine to it. This is a near mirror finish, about 70% like a mirror. This helps prevent rust, and makes the knife easier to clean. The only downside to this finish is that the knife is easier to scratch as opposed to a satin or stonewashed finish.

The Steel
The steel, VG-10 is a very high quality steel. The steel is moderately difficult to sharpen, this however, is easily countered with frequent touch-ups on a strop or fine stone. The steel has a fine grain to it, finer than S30v, yet not quite as fine as 13c26n. The moderately high amount of carbon, and the moderate amount of Vanadium, Manganese, and Molybdenum are the primary reasons for this steels wear resistance. This wear resistance is noticed on a stone as well. The steel feels like it slides across the stone more then the stone scratches the edge. This is solved by using a little more downward pressure when sharpening on a stone. As mentioned, this steel is fine grained, this contributes to a few positive attributes of the steel: When/If the steel chips, the chips are normally small. When sharpening, the vanadium carbides aide in refining the edge, causing this steel to take a finer edge than some other steels. Last, the fine grain creates a higher edge stability than some other steels. This edge stability helps prevent warping of the edge. While finer grain steels may chip easier than some larger grain steels, when they do chip, the chips are small and not chunks of your edge broken off. A aspect of all fine grained steels is that they usually have a better resistance to corrosion than larger grains, this is because oxygen cannot easily get in between the grains and cause oxidization. Rust resistance is usually better determined by carbon to chromium ratio, and blade finish. For example, a bead-blasted finished VG-10 delica will rust sooner than a mirror finished VG-10 delica.

The Handle
This knife is very comfortable both in the hand and in the pocket. The scales are very flat, as opposed to round handle scales. The knife uses "Bi-Directional Texturing". This texturing helps to prevent the knife from sliding during use. This provides excellent grip and feels a little sharp. This does not feel sharp like a knife blade, but sharp like a very coarse sand paper: sharp, yet grippy. The underside of the handle scaled, opposite to the side that has the lock has some type of elongated finger groves. These elongated finger groves hold your finders very comfortably. The peaks of the groves are not very sharp, causing minimal discomfort when using the knife for an extended period of time, or applying a large amount of force to cut through the medium you are cutting. The handle scales are steel lined. This gives the knife more rigidity when applying lateral force to your blade. These steel liners are skeletonized to lighten the knife, while keeping the majority of the strength gained with steel liners. My favorite thing about knives with steel liners is that the area around the pivot tends to be much stronger. This prevents blade play and usually results in the pivot screw staying tight longer versus a non steel lined knife. The only sacrifice is weight, steel weighs more than FRN. This causes the knife to be heavier than it would be if it were made out of solid FRN.

The Lock
This lock is known as a back lock. The blade has a deep, wide cutout in it, the back lock locks into this cutout. This causes the lock to be strong, despite it's thin profile. The back lock has what Spyderco calls a "David Boye Dent" in it. The purpose of this is to prevent the lock from disengaging while you grip the knife with a lot of force. The thing that I like most about this dent is the comfort it adds when you grip the knife hard. The back lock does not dig into your hand under pressure. I have not had this lock, or any of Spydercos back locks ever fail or disengage on me. This lock is strong, simple, and has been proven reliable by it's use for many years.

The Pocket Clip
The clip is stiff and springy. The clip is rigid enough to stay on your pocket, yet flexible (springy) enough to be easy to clip and
un-clip from your pocket. The paint wears off easily, especially if you brush up against anything with your pocket clip. The pocket clip is near perfect. I prefer it to be a bit stiffer, however, for the weight of the knife, it's not going to move around very much, if at all in your pocket. The pocket clip is secured by 3 screws, this prevents the clip from sliding, which you may experience with some other 2 screw pocket clips. As with any knife, do not over-tighten the screws, they are essentially tapped into a high quality plastic. Once you feel the screws getting snug, tighten cautiously. I stripped a screw thread. The hole was entirely stripped, and without 3 screws, the pocket clip was not rigid enough for my tastes. Now I carry the knife without a clip. This is not the fault of Spyderco, but the fault of me, I tend to over-tighten screws.

Overall Construction
The overall construction of this knife is excellent. The blade is centered near perfectly, and does not rub the inner liners/scales unless lateral force is applied when closing. The jimping is precise and consistent, both on the handle and on the blade. The overall finish on the knife, from the handle to the blade is great. The pivot stays tight for a very long time. The overall build quality is excellent.

Conclusion
The flat grind of the knife aides in slicing. The VG-10 gets very sharp, the handle is comfortable, the lock strong, and the steel liners help strengthen the knife. I highly recommend this knife.

I bought these shoes to alleviate pain in my feet. I'd worn Chaco sandals all summer long and was headed north to winter. My winter shoes caused my feet to ache; the balls of my feet felt bruised. I love Altras. They are my favorite shoe of shoes because I love the wide toe box and zero drop. I have many many of the first model, the Altra Instinct. I love them. I ordered the new revision Instinct 1.5 and am very disappointed. Mine were much tighter in the toe box and mid foot. I felt very restricted. I visually could see the difference in the width. I re-read the Altra write ups on this newer 1.5 Instinct and did not find any info that said that they run narrower in the toe box. So if you are an Altra lover who already loves the Instinct, just be on notice that the 1.5 model may not be as comfortable as what you have and make sure that you can return them without too much shipping offset.... Just my .02 of course. I gave it a three star as an OK shoe but it is not for me. Still love you guys at Altra and am sure that you will continue to provides lots of excellent shoes down the road.

I bought these shoes because it is closing in on the rainy season in Oregon and walking my dog Khloe takes me off of the sidewalk and into the bushes as she thinks that she is a hunter. These shoes are nice enough looking for and comfortable for daily wear. I wear a size 11 medium and it is accurate in size. My only complaint, which seems to be in all new high ankle support shoes that I own is that my left ankle rubs against the side even double socked. It seems to get less as the shoe is breaking in, but it it still there after a week. It is not severe, but it is noticeable, especially after an hour walk. I presume that I will not notice it in a month. The shoe walks straight with very little side give which means that it won't cause me to twist my ankle when stepping on rocks. It has only rained once since I got them but they gave good non slip support, even in the wet grass which surprised me. I definitely recommend these shoes, next Spring will be the true tale after a full Fall and Winter usage.

This has been a rather dry season here but I have noticed that water is starting to seep through the seams in puddles now as the shoes wear and probably would not recommend them now. Therefor I have lowered my rating on the shoes. I still think they would be fine if I use a rubber sealant around the seams, but that sould have been done at the factory

I make it a point to skate Emericas, My last three skating shoes were Reynolds, Jinx, and these awesome chukka mid shoes with a Mexican wrestler on the tongue . They are a great shape,priced super reasonably, enough support, long lasting, and a great skate team to get behind. With that said, these shoes do not shine through. I never bought them to skate in, but the edges and inner sole just gave up, and let go of the tread. I first super-glued them, now shoe-gooed them up and down. I just wore them to work, nothing stressing, and they just gave up.
These are definitely not my last pair of Emerica's, but most certainly my last Wino's. One redeeming quality: comfortable as slippers

Milwaukee 48-11-1828 M18 XC RED LITHIUM 18-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Tool Battery Review

Great battery! I bought this specifically for my job site radio (2790-20), but recently purchased a cordless sawzall and will be using it for the sawzall as well. Additionally, I have two XC batteries that came with my hammer drill (2602-22) and impact driver (2650-22). These batteries last a loooooong time for almost all applications; it seems like each battery will last for several hours doing even mid-level work. So far, the only time that the battery completely drained on me while I was working was when I used my drill to mix concrete (using an attached paddle for mixing concrete in a bucket).

As far as the weight, it's really not that bad and you get used to it quickly. I have used the 18V compact li-on batteries, which are great, but half the amperage; this battery is 2.8 amps and the compact is 1.4. Additionally, if you buy this retail at Home Depot, you're paying $120 + tax versus the $75 here. Totally worth it.

Now comes my critique. I absolutely loooooove Milwaukee, but they really should have taken a lesson from DeWalt: Their Ni-Cad and Li-On batteries are not "backwards compatible" with each other, that is, you HAVE TO USE the respective battery with its respective tool. Even worst, certain tools REQUIRE the XC M18 battery and cannot be powered by the compact M18 (for example, the cordless sawzall [2620-20]). To me, Milwaukee should have made every battery--from Ni-Cad to Li-On, and regardless of XC/compact or voltage--compatible with every tool and charger, but they didn't . . . so yeah. The good thing about purchasing this battery from the get-go is that it can be used on all of Milwaukee's M18 series tool line, whereas the compact M18 cannot.

As for charging, it's pretty reasonable. If it only has one bar left on the fuel gauge, I find that it takes anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes to charge. I called Milwaukee about leaving the battery charging overnight, and they said that it's not an issue with these batteries--a sigh of relief for those of us used to older batteries with "battery memory."

I would highly recommend this battery, but KNOW if the tool you intend to use it on is compatible with it. Again, Milwaukee's Ni-Cad tools are NOT compatible with their Li-On batteries, and vice versa. Know your line of Milwaukee cordless tools before purchasing.

I ordered the Grey/Lime version size 8.5 2E of these New Balance MX797 shoes, and I think they were a fantastic value for the price I bought them at. 5 stars for the great fit and for being USA made.

Here's the reason for the 4 stars:

A relative tried on my shoes and wanted a pair, so I bought the "Black/Silver" version of these shoes and was very disappointed when they came in. I ordered a size 8.5 2E like mine and the width looked and felt like a D instead of a 2E. Also when I looked at the tags of the "Black/Silver" version of the shoes, they were made in China and turned out to be a different model called MX797BK2. The "Grey/Lime" shoes were made in the USA and are the model MX797SL. In fact, I noticed before buying the second pair of shoes, that the pictures on Amazon were mildly different in shape and design than the first pair of shoes I ordered, but thought the fit would be the same anyway.

STRAIGHT TO THE POINT:

If you are ordering the [BLACK/SILVER], [BLUE], or [DARK GREY/YELLOW] colored versions of this MX797 shoe, be aware they are MADE IN CHINA and are [MODEL# MX797BK2] according to the pictures posted on Amazon. The fit is TIGHTER (size 8.5 2E feels like 8.5 D), and the treading underneath and overall design is actually different than the other colors. In essence it is a completely different shoe and should not necessarily be grouped together without some sort of description giving the differences. The colors and design look great, but the fit is something to be weary of if you have wide feet. Also it is not made in the USA if that's not your cup of English Breakfast.

If you order the [GREY/LIME], [BLACK/BLUE], [GREY/ORANGE], [WHITE/BLUE], or [GREY/RED] colored versions of this MX797 shoe, they are MADE IN THE USA, and are [MODEL# MX797SL] according to the pictures posted on Amazon. The fit is accurate as the 8.5 2E feels like an 8.5 2E. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if your size is still available in any of these colors for wide footed people looking for a nice light shoe for walking/jogging/running from an axe murderer/using ATP in general.
