I really didn't NEED any more flashlights...but when I saw these
(yes, at the even better price that people keep referring to, at Costco)
I figured they were well worth the chance. Especially since that retailer has a
spectacularly generous return policy.

*Yes, they are bright as Hell! :)
*Yes, the sliding zoom is about as useful as on any light you'll find.
*Yes, the build quality is solid
*Yes, the button is recessed...some don't like that, I do...less chance of turning on for hours in the back of the truck
*No, I don't know how it would perform with rechargeables, since this intensity eats regular batts...Feit claims 7 hours at 500 lumens
*No, it isn't marketed as a "weapon"...and it doesn't have the 'face-shredder' many tactical lights do...it has some heft, though.
*Yes, it strobes...most tactical lights do...the idea is to briefly disorient an attacker
*Yes, it has auto-S.O.S. Hopefully you'll never need it, but if in distress, you can just turn the light on S.O.S. mode (the 4th setting),
point it towards the likeliest source of aid, and it will continue to flash the S.O.S. signal (*** -- -- --- ***) three short, three long, three short...

So, my initial grade--for these lights, at this price--is very high. Of course, they're new...
if after significant use, they don't live up to expectations, I'll revise.

p.s. While I don't agree with StephenB that this is a "mediocre" torch, I do agree that
--especially for people who might ONLY have this one light handy--an additional lower 'low' setting
(say, 90 lumens for maybe a ~24 hour run time) would be a GREAT addition on future models...
