These foam tiles are also waterproof, sound proof, shock absorbent, and insulating. In addition, the soft tile products are 100% allergen free and contain no latex. This product was purchased for our home workout room transformation. We bought 144 sq. ft of the black foam tiles and put it down directly over a plywood subfloor. We didn't need to use any backing or adhesive. I've never used a product like this and was worried about the quality and thickness. It was definitely worth the money. The pieces are thick and fit together tightly. We didn't have any noticeable gaps where the pieces lock together. It offers great support and is appropriately soft. Two of the corners have a flat edge if you need it but it can be removed if you want a center piece. We laid the floor edge to edge in the room, right up against the trim. I wouldn't have wanted it any thicker or thinner. Thinner wouldn't have been as supportive and thicker would have been harder to cut. The pieces cut easily with a utility knife and a 2 foot construction square. Tip: If you need to cut a flat edge that is exposed, the utility knife may produce a somewhat jagged edge. In the places that we trimmed around closet doors, we used a heavy-duty pair of utility scissors which produced a straighter edge. The floor lays flat and hasn't budged since we put it down last week. I'm impressed. I'll provide a durability update later.
